Review for Donkey by Stephanie Brother.I'm going to openly admit, I only bought this book because of the insane title...I do like the step-brother troupe, the forbidden aspect is hot and with the laugh-out-loud ridiculousness of Sabrina Paige, I hoped that we would get some of that with Donkey. Alas, this fell short, over and over again.
My absolute biggest pet peeve is when an author doesn't do the proper research to fit the subject matter. Fiction is fiction, but if you are going to write about American Football... know your stuff. Or for example artists... I swear the references to her doing some "art" was ridiculous. Not a painting or a sculpture, but references about how she should "art" or her career choice is "art" what a vague concept. Completely lacking any sort of realism or depth. I was ready to bang my head on the desk.
My second biggest pet peeve...if you are going to write an American family... that resides in America... KNOW THE PROPER VOCABULARY! And, using "reckon" does not American it up, that's actually kind of insulting. It's not a garden, it's a yard or a lawn. We don't measure in meters. And about a hundred other things that were completely incorrect to the American culture.
Improper identification of the speaker in a scene was beyond ridiculous. It was nearly impossible to identify who was speaking when there were more than two characters in a scene... heck even when it was just Tilly and Landon, it was hard to identify at times.
I barely finished the book, in fact there were times that I skimmed pages of the thing just because it was so redundant and poorly researched. I wanted to enjoy this book, but the only redeeming quality is, in fact, one of the main reasons that Landon is called the Donkey...and it's not because he's a jerk.
One Star.

DONKEY A Stepbrother Sports Romance eBook Stephanie Brother Lunatic Design Abbey Foxx Reviews
Donkey was the first book and while it was ok, I skimmed quite a bit of the boring bits. The book Charged was very interesting and kept my attention throughout the book. It deserves a 5 star review and Donkey a 3 star. I will read more by this author if it's like the book Charged. Happy reading. SQ
Pretty much that the first one was okay, although there was no drama and everyone was okay with it all which made me go wait what. All in all it was an okay story. The other one not so much it moved fast and left a lot of wait what just happen moment. It felt rushed and the fact that she forgave her family in the end did not sit well with me. It just made her to much of a saint and someone who thinks the world is gum drops and flowers. All in all was an okay read but nothing grate.
This book had me fooled. So many alpha, stepbrother stories have men that are such jerks that it is easy to stay pissed off at them for their cockiness. Landon was confident of himself with a tad bit of arrogance. The way that Tilly described Landon, I was under the impression that she disliked him because she believed him to be a an uncaring jock that went through women with no conscience. However, Landon was nothing like Tilly believed. I truly enjoyed this book. It was a bit long but I like the way that Tillie and Landon came together in the end. I read it as a Unlimited read but will buy it because I want to support the author and I enjoyed it so much.
Good for a short read, just too much for intimate moments as they both do not have anything in their heads - just sex. I like to read about sexual attraction between the main two characters, but this was too much - cannot believe that someone seariously can fall in love in just 3-4 days. They even spoke not enough, they just wanted to go to bed all the time. I am mature enough to understand that sexual attraction is not good enough for rest of the life. But who am to jugde?!?! ) Anyway - enjoyed the reading.
The bonus novella was bad. Absolutely impossible and written as in a big hurry without the story behind. Real disappointmend.
Well this was drawn out. For a short story it seemed to last forever. There was so much inner and side dialogue that I actually skipped parts just to get back to the real dialogue. The intimate parts were steamy, but all of that was overpowered by the never ending dialogue. Jeesh! I liked the ending (HEA). That was more sweet and to the point. The rest was starting to become white noise.
This isn't up to what I usually expect from this author. Both books felt rushed at times. I was even questioning if I was missing some of the books as each felt like there were missing chapters and events that were "skipped" were spoken of as if they had their own chapter. The dialog between characters, while rapid fire and true to life in mannerisms, was very difficult to follow as there were entire pages of back and forth, single line conversations, with multiple characters involved, but no reference to who was supposed to be saying the line. The ideas for the books were good, but I find the execution lacking.
This book could have benefited from some editing. There were in one seen the h is wearing sweats on one page and a dress on the next... Also some issues with using the wrong word (in instead of is, etc..., small mistakes like that but they really take you out of the story). At the end of the story it was like the author ran out of time and just thought "epilogue, lets wrap this story up in a nice little bow." It also seemed like the author needed to do some more research on "American Football", the H is a football player and from the descriptions that were given it seemed as if he played every position on the field. Good premises, just needed to be edited and flushed out a little more.
